Zaven Paré 

Zaven Paré est un artiste plasticien qui partage aussi son travail entre l’expérimentation et la recherche. Ancien élève des Beaux-Arts de Paris, à partir de sa maîtrise du dessin, il n’a eu de cesse d’inventer de nouvelles formes et de nouveaux supports d’expression. Du low tech au high tech, il invente avec poésie de nouveaux dispositifs, des laboratoires de robotique japonais aux faubourgs de Mumbai; de la Mata Atlantica à son atelier de Rio de Janeiro. Ses travaux sont reconnus pour être pionniers dans les domaines des nouveaux médias: de la machine art à la création d’interfaces. Il a inventé la marionnette électronique et des artefacts qui associent sa maîtrise de la mécanique, de l’optique, de la pneumatique et l’électronique. Ses œuvres sont présentes dans des collections en France, en Suisse, en Belgique, en Italie, aux États Unis et en Russie; ainsi que dans différents fonds d’archives. Ses dispositifs ont été utilisés dans les mises en scène de pièces du dramaturge français Valère Novarina (CalArts, Festival Henson, La Mama etc, Festival d’Avignon). Il a été collaborateur de chorégraphes canadiens (Marie Chouinard, Edouard Lock), pour le théâtre et le théâtre musical (Denis Marleau, Mauricio Kagel) et pour le ballet et l’opéra (Het National Ballet d’Amsterdam, Opéra Paris-Bastille). À partir de 2009, il collabore à la création du Robot Actors Project du roboticien Hiro-Shi Ishiguro, dans le Intelligent Robotics Laboratory à l’Université d’Osaka. Il a été lauréat du French American Fund for Performing Arts au California Institute for the Arts, de la Villa Kujoyama, de la Japan Society for Promotion of Science en tant que roboticien. Et, il a reçu le prix de l’Instituto Sergio Motta en Arts et technologies au Brésil; dernièrement, il a été l’invité d’honneur du festival de marionnettes de Moscou. Il est l’auteur des ouvrages L’âge d’or de la robotique Japonaise (Paris: Les Belles Lettres, 2016) et plus récemment, Le spectacle anthropomorphique, entre singes et robots (Dijon: Les presses du réel, 2021).

Zaven Paré is a visual artist whose work is split evenly between experimentation and research. A former student at the Beaux-Arts de Paris, he has never stopped inventing new forms and new means of expression. From low tech to high tech, he poetically invents new devices, from Japanese robotics laboratories to the suburbs of Mumbai; from the Mata Atlantica to his studio in Rio de Janeiro. His work is recognized as pioneering in the fields of new media: from machine art to interface creation. He invented the electronic puppet and artifacts that combine his mastery of mechanics, optics, pneumatics and electronics. His works can be found in collections in France, Switzerland, Belgium, Italy, the United States and Russia, as well as in various archives. His devices have been used in the staging of plays by French playwright Valère Novarina (CalArts, Festival Henson, La Mama etc, Festival d’Avignon). He has collaborated with Canadian choreographers (Marie Chouinard, Edouard Lock), for theater and musical theater (Denis Marleau, Mauricio Kagel) and for ballet and opera (Het National Ballet of Amsterdam, Opéra Paris-Bastille). In 2009, he collaborated in the creation of the Robot Actors Project of the roboticist Hiroshi Ishiguro, in the Intelligent Robotics Laboratory at the University of Osaka. He has been awarded the French American Fund for Performing Arts at the California Institute for the Arts, the Villa Kujoyama, the Japan Society for Promotion of Science as a roboticist.
